If there’s one game I’ve written about the most in my 29 years of being on the Internet, it’s been Shining Force 2. Some of these are my all-time favorites on the system and If you play these and jive with them, then hey, we may be on the same wavelength. I love a lot of games on the Saturn if it’s not here, it doesn’t mean I don’t like it.Īll of these are absolutely great games. But, seeing as how this is literally the first thing being written for this website in earnest, I figured I would start out with my guns blazing and present to you, in no special order, the first five games I would have every new Sega Saturn owner (or emulator or MiSTERer) play. This will become clear whether this is the very first or very last thing of mine you read on this website. I was already a bit of a weirdo at school (hard to imagine someone writing on the website about the Sega Saturn while also being a kid Who Had A Normal One), and my inability to relate to other kids about Mario or the Super Nintendo made me even weirder.īut the weirdness doesn’t stop there: I’m just a big ol’ weirdo when it comes to how I engage with video games too. Point being, these things are in my blood. My dad rounded out the collection with a Master System at some point between the Game Gears and the 32x. Then a 32x from the grandparents (per my mom’s instructions), then a Sega CD from the family, then a Saturn and finally a Dreamcast. I grew up as a Sega Baby: my first video game system ever was a Genesis, my sister and I later then were gifted Game Gears. That obviously can’t be literally true, but it felt like it. I was the only kid in North Dakota with a Sega Saturn.
